Interior Design Renovation & Remodel

3000 ft²

This Boulder County, Colorado home was perfectly located and generously sized for this busy family of four, yet its outdated layout and worn furnishings did not reflect the family’s lifestyle. The clients, a pair of physicians raising two children and a dog, wanted a home that felt modern, function driven, and restorative.

Studio Strongwater approached the project as both a modern home renovation and a comprehensive furnishing and decoration plan. The scope included a full kitchen renovation, two-bath remodels, and furnishing + decorating the connected living and dining areas, to create a harmonious, light-filled, playful retreat that felt cohesive. Every element was curated to support family rhythms while expressing a sense of quiet luxury.

From finishes to furniture, the goal was twofold. First, to unite function and beauty through a kitchen and bath remodel paired with a full interior design and furnishing plan, one that balanced craftsmanship with warmth, modernity with comfort, and thoughtful decoration throughout. Second, to create a process that simplified each decision, allowing the clients to move forward with clarity and confidence rather than second-guessing.

The Vision

The guiding vision for this modern home renovation was to create spaces that nurture well-being through balance and flow throughout the entire home. Our clients wanted rooms that function beautifully for everyday life yet remain visually serene, a place where cooking, gathering, and unwinding feel equally effortless.

The focus was on warmth, cohesion, and a sense of calm: soft oak, layered lighting, organic stone, durable textiles, and furnishings embodied the belief that thoughtful design supports mindful living.

Because the homeowners had clear preferences but not always the time or confidence to sift through endless possibilities, Beth narrowed choices with intention. This would ensure that the finished home reflected the family’s vision in ways that would be difficult to achieve without a thoughtful, curated process.

By integrating the renovation with a complete furnishing and decorating plan, this kitchen and bath remodel Colorado project became a whole-home transformation, one that honored how the family cooks, gathers, unwinds, and connects.

Living Room

Once isolated and underutilized, the living room was repositioned as the emotional and physical center of the home. By relocating it to the middle of the floor plan, Studio Strongwater created a space that seamlessly connects the kitchen and home’s main entry points, grounded by a beautifully detailed wood-burning fireplace that encourages everyday connection

Kitchen

Studio Strongwater reimagined the kitchen renovation as the heart of the home: open, bright, and family-friendly, flowing naturally into the newly furnished and decorated living and dining spaces.

Primary Bath

The primary bathroom was transformed into a retreat defined by refined simplicity and quiet comfort. Natural stone, soft layered lighting, and clean, timeless lines replaced a more utilitarian feel, creating a spa-like environment that supports both morning routines and end-of-day unwinding with ease.

Kids' Bath

The kids’ bathroom evolved into a modern, highly functional space designed to handle daily family life with ease. Durable finishes, smart storage, and playful details introduced a sense of fun and whimsy, grounded by a versatile color palette that works equally well for boys and girls—and adapts effortlessly as the children grow through simple changes in towels and accessories.

The Process

The Concept

In this Louisville, Colorado project, Studio Strongwater acted as both renovation partner and interior designer, ensuring a seamless dialogue between construction, furnishing and decorating. The modern home renovation continued through the great room, where layered furnishings, textiles, and lighting brought warmth and cohesion.

The Design

From the earliest plans, functionality guided every creative decision. The kitchen renovation began with re-configuring the flow, opening sightlines between the cooking and dining zones, maximizing storage, and choosing easy-care surfaces. Detailed drawings clarified not only cabinetry and construction, but also how furnishings and decoration elements would complete the space.

The Build

We shaped every material and spatial decision with a focus on clarity, balance, and long-term livability. From lighting and flooring to tile, countertops, cabinetry, and custom details, each selection was made to support both beauty and function—especially in the kitchen, where layout, appliances, and workflow were carefully considered to make cooking a daily pleasure.

Signature Moments

The great room design began with one extraordinary element: a hand-woven rug the client’s husband brought home from his military tour in Afghanistan. Its intricate pattern and soulful palette became the emotional starting point for the entire furnishing and decorating plan.

Studio Strongwater anchored the design around this heirloom, layering modern silhouettes, natural woods, and soft neutrals that let the rug’s artistry shine. It’s a deeply personal example of how interior design for families can honor memory, celebrate meaning, and still feel fresh and modern.

Final Thoughts

The thoughtful blending of treasured objects with intentional furnishing and decorating exemplifies the essence of this project. This approach shows how meaningful starting points, paired with curated guidance, evolve into a cohesive and personal home. Holistic Haven is more than a modern home renovation in Louisville, Colorado, it’s a story of connection: between past and present, beauty and function, heart and home.

Client Testimonial

“Beth has a really sophisticated eye for design. She designed our kitchen/living space and multiple bathrooms, and we are thrilled with the end result! She helped select lighting, flooring, tile, countertops, vanity, cabinetry, etc., and also helped with space planning. Never could have done that all on my own (and if I did, I’m certain I’d have regrets), so the investment in good design was worth it.

She did a great job balancing beauty and function, especially in the kitchen where it’s a total pleasure to cook! As a former chef, she was able to provide excellent advice on appliances and layout.”
